I have had the cooktop for over a week now and it performs just as it should. We purchased it to replace a 14-year-old cooktop that was showing its age and 2 of the 4 burners would not reliably light any longer. That old cooktop was a GE as well and over the course fo the 14 years, aside from the 2 burners not working towards the end, it was a trooper and we never had to service it or had any issues with it. That is why we went with another GE cooktop. The new one we just put in is pretty much just a newer version of our old one, It does look and feel a little cheaper or lower quality than our original. The old cooktop had a glass overlay where the burner knobs are, making it look a little more high-end, this one is flat all the way around and the burner knobs are set into the cooktop with no overlay. The grates are solid, I read a review that said they seemed cheap, they seem just as heavy as our old ones did and don't feel cheap to me at all. Overall it is a nice cooktop, no bells, and whistles, no cool features, no high-end look but it gets the job done.

After thoroughly researching cooktops, I decided on the black GE 4-burner 30" model because the larger burners were in the front and that is important. Also, I like the black color over the stainless. The grates are easy to remove to clean the cooktop.
